In this essay, I have inquired into the concept of labor in view of Marxian thought. According to Marx, Labor is primary method of humanization. By means of labor, human beings can accomplish a self-fufillment and, at the same time, satisfy their natural desire and necessity. For Marx, labor is a matter of practical dimension. So here I had attention to a practical factors of labors. In the past, his theory had played an important role of explaining man and society. But It is invalid any more to apply Marxian theory of labor to today's social situation without any remediation. Labor is not a symbol of humanization any more. Nowadays it is not regarded as the essential method of humanization. But Marxian original intention is to resist against the dehumanization of labor. So, in this essay, I intended to prove that man is more superior than product. Labor is a substantial activity of human beings. Because man expresses himself through his labor. Alienation of labor deprives us of human values. In order to prevent this alienation, human labor must have an ethical character. So we have to reorganize human labor, and these reorganizations of Labor must be realized both in economical and ethical sphere.

인간은 노동하는 존재이다. 이는 생존의 차원만이 아니라 그의 인간성을 구성하는 전 차원에서도 타당하다. 인간은 우선 자연에 제약되어 있는 존재이다. 그러나 그는 노동을 통하여 자연에 대한 수동성을 능동성으로 전환시킨다. 이러한 기제는 인간 고유한 능력인 구상력 덕분이다. 그러나 인간 노동은 생존의 차원만을 위해 노동하는 것이 아니라, 노동을 통하여 그의 내밀한 삶을 표현하게 된다. 삶을 표현하는 노동은 인간의 노동을 사용가치 이상의 무엇을 창조하도록 한다. 이러한 인간의 노동이 노동을 통한 자기발견이라는 명제가 가능하도록 한다. 이와 같은 노동의 목적에 따라 노동의 규범을 설정하게 한다. 노동의 목적이 인간 생활을 더욱 인간답게 하는 것이라면, 노동은 인간의 생존과 관련된 품위를 높이도록 조직되어야 할 뿐만 아니라, 노동을 통하여 인간의 창조적 본성을 실현하도록 조직되어야 한다. 이런 경우, 노동은 경제영역과 도덕 영역의 분리가 아니라, 일치하도록 조직되어야 한다.
