The term 'knowledge based society' was established as an ordinary one. Adaptive and creative thinking became a central subject in education. What is the new aspect of knowledge in the present society? Why is adaptive and creative thinking so important in a knowledge based society? The first question can be answered by an analysis of complexity in knowledge. The effective production of complex knowledge is crucial for success or failure of a knowledge based society. The society must not be based on a command system like organogram but on a knowledge network. System thinking is necessary for the management of a knowledge network.
An ideal actor can identify the pattern of the organizational system to which he belongs. He can also consider the dynamics of system in environmental changes. System thinking is the clue to the second question. The subject of a knowledge based society and education is now familiar to philosophers. But philosophers' teaching method of theory of fallacies in informal logic or critical thinking runs counter to the educational ideal needed in a knowledge based society.
