The aim of this article is to reflect a meaning and direction of art in the era of post-capitalism to which skepticism of art gains its influence. Art makes a person more human, through the developement of sensibility awake a meaning and value, to widen a breadth of a tolerance, understanding, affection about to community, so that when we to hold in the arms dry world of prometheus through an art world of orpheus, inhumanness of humanbing by technology is to overcome. And in order to spread a creative imagination against fetishistic world of simulacra, we should restored a function of aesthetic symbol that art possessed in a long time ago.

이 글은 예술회의론이 득세하는 후기 자본주의 시대에 다시금 예술의 의미를 반추하고 방향을 성찰해보기 위한 것이다. 근대 이후 예술은 모더니즘의 자율성의 신화에 안주하여 세계와 교신하던 영적 아우라와 삶의 진정성을 상실하고, 풍요 속의 빈곤을 맞게되었다. 현대의 첨단 복제기술은 고도로 정교한 이미지를 통해 완전 무결한 실재를 추구하려 했고, 이것은 결국 이미지 자체가 가진 상징적인 힘을 잃게 했다. 모조된 실재가 더 실재적인 '하이퍼리얼리티'의 시대에 더 이상 '아름다운 예술'은 설 땅이 없다. 그렇다면 이 시대 예술의 진정성은 어디서 찾아야 할까? 예술은 인간을 인간답게 하고, 감수성을 발달시켜 삶의 의미와 가치를 일깨우며 더불어 사는 사람에 대한 관용과 이해, 애정의 폭을 넓혀준다는 점에서 과학기술이 지배하는 메마른 프로메테우스의 세계를 오르페우스의 예술세계로 감싸안을 때, 기술에 의한 인간의 비인간화는 극복될 수 있으며, 디지털 기술이 만들어내는 시뮬라크르의 물화된 세계에 맞서 창조적 상상력을 발휘하기 위해선 그 옛날 예술이 가졌던 심미적 상징의 기능을 회복해야 할 것이다.
