This study examined the pre-service teachers' information seeking behaviors using search engines. A total of 101 pre-service teachers, mainly senior students, in a national university of education have been studied. Three major themes emerged from the finding and discussed in the discussion. First, 93.1% of pre-service teachers shows the average search time between 30 minutes to 2 hours performing internet searches on a daily basis; Second, a search engine was the most-used search engine by 84.2% of the total subjects. The reasons of using a preferred search engine were that subjects perceived the ease-to-use interface of the search engine and the familiarity, also called fixation, of using their preferred search engine; And third, only a few different roots of the keywords was entered to build an appropriate search request for given search terms. Also students do not show the results of wide variation in generating keywords. The findings about students' behaviors and fixation in information searching and educational implications for pre-service teacher education are discussed.

본 논문에서는 예비교사들이 인터넷 정보검색과 검색엔진 이용에 이용패턴을 살펴보았 다. 총 101명의 교육대학교 4학년 학생들이 연구에 참여하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 하 루 인터 넷 검색 시간을 30분 이상 2시간 이내가 전체의 93.1%가 시간을 할애하고 있었다. 둘째, 인 터넷 검 색을 위해서 대부분의 학생들이 이용하는 검색엔진은 N사의 검색엔진이었으며, 학생들이 응답한 특정 검색엔진을 주로 사용하는 이유로 해당 검색엔진의 사용 용이성과 익숙함에서 오는 고착성에 의한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 제한된 몇 가지만의 검색어의 어근이 이용되고 주어진 검색 어근으로 부터 검색어의 확장에서 큰 차이를 보이고 있지 않다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 확인된 학생들 의 특징 적인 정보검색 행태와 정보검색의 고착성에 대하여 논의하고 교육적 함의를 알아본다.
