A Study of Inner Consciousness' Showing in Junghee Oh's Novels
초록
영어
A writer tells meaningful stories through realistic presentation of protagonists actions with the aim of obtaining goals or solving problems. However, we notice that the modern novels are filled with not only actions or events among characters, but also sensitive responses and perception of characters who have exceptional awareness. Assuming that novels are up to the point where they deepen a characters internal search, free from highlighting events or characters, we notice that Jung-he Oh, a writer, describes characters internal consciousness precisely and acutely. She has depicted people who show exceptional awareness, such as sprout of new emotions, frustration, uncertainty, gloom, or weariness. For her writing Junghee Oh focuses on inner consciousness of the characters, not the storyline to express their complicated inner spirit. So this paper is provided three sections as the method of showing solitude, fatigue, mother's affection, fear etc. of the characters in Junghee Oh's novels. Junghee Oh doesn't directly present consciousness of the protagonist. She explains it impact or influence on the inner self of the character by others, external things or situation. Also Junghee Oh's novels speak for a keen reaction of the characters by association or recollection of the protagonist and describe life, death and extinction of the character through symbolic color images or inner monologue. Therefore this paper has a conclusion that Junghee Oh effectively forms inner world of the characters who undergo frustration about pursuit and loss of the self desire through objective correlative, stream of consciousness, symbol, monologue etc.
