Universities have invested resources to improve quality of lecture and education, which have been evaluated rigorously based on diverse criteria. However, the evaluation has been most based on evaluation of lectures, ignoring various characteristics of professors and instructers as a source of information. Accordingly, the current study aims to investigate the impact of professors and instructers as a source of information, which have been neglected in the previous literature and may ultimately determine the quality of overall education. More specifically, the present study investigates the impact of credibility and attractiveness of a lecturer on attitude towards professor and class. 227 students answered various questionnaires through an online survey. The initial results showed that source characteristic consists of two dimensions such as creadibility and attractiveness. The results also demonstrated that source credibility and attractiveness have a positive impact on student attitude toward professor. And attitude toward professor has direct impact on attitude toward class. Theoretical and practical implication, and future research directions are discussed in the conclusion.

현재 많은 대학들이 강의 및 교육품질을 높이기 위해 노력하고, 다양한 방법을 통해 이를 평가하고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 대학에서 실시하고 있는 교육품질 평가는 교수 개인이 한 명의 정보원으로서 가지고 있는 특성을 고려하지 않고, 지나치게 강의평가에만 집중되었다. 이에 본 연구는 설득 및 커뮤니케이션 분야에서 유명인 및 광고모델의 효과를 설명하기 위해 사용되어온 정보원의 특성을 교수에 적용해 보았다. 연구목적은 정보원의 특성이 교수에 대한 태도 그리고 수업에 대한 태도에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 또한 정보원 특성과 수업에 대한 태도 간의 관계에서 교수에 대한 태도의 매개효과를 파악하고자 한다. 자료의 수집은 인터넷사이트를 이용하였고, 227명이 조사에 참여하였다 연구결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 교수의 특성이 신뢰성과 매력성의 두 가지 차원으로 구분되었다. 둘째, 정보원의 신뢰성과 매력성이 교수에 대한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교수에 대한 태도는 수업에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치고 이와 동시에 원천의 특성과 수업에 대한 태도 간에 완전매개효과를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과로 알 수 있는 것은 학생들의 수업에 대한 긍정적 태도를 이끌어내기 위해서는 먼저 교수에 대한 긍정적 태도가 형성될 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이를 위해서는 교수가 강의하는 과목에 대해 전문적인 지식을 가지고 객관적인 정보를 학생들에게 제공하는 것이 필요하다. 한편으로 신체적 매력성도 교수에 대한 태도를 통해 수업에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치기 때문에 교수들은 한 명의 배우 혹은 모델로서 신체적인 매력성을 높이기 위해 노력해야 한다.
