The term ‘family’ naturally brings up the image of a biological family in people’s mindset in general. This phenomenon takes place in the studies on families and therapeutic arena. As a result, many different kinds of households, one of them is remarried families, are indifferent to the scholars or out of focus from their eyes. Also, mostly traditional researchers or practitioners work with the criteria which is constructed by biological family studies when they carry out their researches and practices although all of stories of families differ from one another. Also, in this social discourse, it is a tendency that a biological family is widely believed to be the optimal set of circumstances for families whereas, for example, a remarried family is more problematic than a biological family in people’s prejudices.
The main purpose of this research was not to gather data about remarried families and to add such data, but to understand their stories in greater depth. With this in-depth understanding, this research attempts to bring together the outcomes of their told stories as local knowledge and their community and the academic world.
To do this, two main characters as stories tellers from remarried families joined the research project. Whole narrators were seven. I met them in therapy’s rooms and I asked a favor of them to participate this research project. They were willing to do it. This research adopted a pastoral narrative approach and unstructured conversational conversations in accordance with a social construction perspective.

일반적으로 ‘가족’이라고 하면 초혼을 통해 이루어진 가족형태를 연상하게 된다. 이런 현상은 가족에 대한 연구나, 상담현장에서도 비슷하게 나타난다. 이러한 경향은 결국 초혼 가족 형태가 가족구성원에게 가장 최적의 환경을 제공한다는 사회문화적 담론에서 비롯되었다 할 수 있다.
그러나 본 보고서는 재혼가정 연구를 함에 있어, 이러한 경향을 탈피해서 가족의 특수성과 역동성에 초점을 맞추려고 노력했다. 그러므로 이 연구의 목적은 재혼가정에 대한 정보(data)수집이나, 그들의 정보를 더하려는 것이 아니다. 그보다는 그들의 이야기를 좀 더 심층적으로 듣고, 이해하기 위함이며, 자신들의 삶에 도움을 주는 것이다. 그리고 이 연구에서 추출된 수확물들을 우리 공동체와, 학문 세계에 작은 목소리나마 전하고 싶은 것이다.
본 연구에 참여한 가정은 두 가정이며, 총 7명의 이야기를 중심으로 전개되었다. 이들은 상담현장에서 만나게 되었으며, 자발적 참여로 인해 본 보고서가 이루어 졌다. 본보고서는 목회-이야기 접근법(a pastoral-narrative approach)과 사회구성론(a social construction)의 관점, 그리고 구조화되지 않은 대화(unstructured conversations)로 이루어 졌다.
