The purpose of this study is to explore the rational ways of the social consideration system of a self-governing private high school. In order to achieve this objective, this study analyzed the student selection results for 2010~2011 academic year and high school teachers' perceptions on the major problems and desirable ways. The analyses found that it needs to deliberate application requirements, a ratio of the social consideration, a criterion for selection. Teachers feel overwhelmed by the students selection of social consideration and expect to strengthen autonomy. Some strategies for improving the social consideration system of a Self-Governing Private High School may be listed as follows: 1) psychological and financial supports, 2) relaxation of requirements, 3) individualized and comprehensive review, 4) increasement of autonomy for the students selection

이 연구의 목적은 합리적인 자율형 사립고 사회적 배려 대상자 선발을 위한 정책방안을 모 색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 2010~2011학년도 사회적 배려 대상자 선발결과를 분석하고, 문제 점 및 개선방안에 대한 현장 교원의 인식을 분석하였다. 2010~2011학년도 현황을 분석한 결 과, 사회적 배려 대상 전형의 지원자격, 선발 비율, 선발방식 등의 문제점이 나타났다. 또한 교원들은 사회적 배려 대상자 선발에 상당한 부담감을 가지고 있고, 학생선발의 자율권 확대 를 기대하는 것으로 분석되었다. 사회적 배려 대상자 선발제도의 합리적인 개선방안으로 사 회적 배려 대상자에 대한 심리적 ․ 경제적 측면의 지원, 사회적 배려 대상자 지원자격 확대, 개 별지원자에 대한 개별적․종합적 검토, 단위학교의 선발 자율권 확대 등을 제안하였다
