Animations produced by domestic corporation these days are well-organized, stories of which are put together strongly. This dissertation is an assessment of character designs in children's animations, purposed for sustainable growth of the animation business. Children's animations are unique, in terms that they have specific audience. Hence, it would be a plausible argument to say that unique characteristics of children are in close relationship with the animation characters that they are interested in. This dissertation will observe the types of animation characters preferred by children, by assessing popular animations of the day; morphological form and coloristic assessments of characters in "Porong Porong Pororo", "Kokomong of Refrigerator World", and "Chiro and Friends". Shared principles of child-preferred characters that this dissertation will derive will create high added values, and is purposed to enhance the quality of domestic children's animations that are now being exported overseas.

기존 국내의 유아용 애니메이션은 미국의 디즈니사 혹은 일본의 애니메이션 회사들이 수출한 것들이 대부 분이었다. 그러나 2000년대에 들어서면서부터 국내 애니메이션에 대한 심도 있는 연구와 분석으 로 국내에 서 제작한 애니메이션들이 자리를 잡고 있다. 빈약한 스토리 구성과 뻔한 전개가 아닌 짜임새 있 는 구성 과 탄탄한 스토리는 국내 애니메이션의 브랜드 가치를 높이고 있다. 본 논문은 지속적인 애니메 이션의 발 전을 위하여 유아용 애니메이션의 캐릭터 디자인을 분석하였다. 유아용 애니메이션은 다른 애니 메이션들 과는 달리 일정한 타깃이 정해져 있다. 따라서 유아의 특성에 대한 분석은 유아들이 선호하는 캐 릭터와 밀접한 관련이 있다고 할 수 있다. 현재 높은 호응을 얻고 있는 캐릭터를 분석함으로써 유아가 선호하는 캐릭터의 유형을 살펴보았다. 현재 방영 중인 <뽀롱뽀롱뽀로로>, <냉장고 나라 코코몽>, <치로 와 친구들> 에 등장하는 캐릭터를 형태적, 색채적 측면으로 분석하였다. 본 논문이 도출한 유아들이 선호하 는 캐릭터 에 대한 공통적인 원칙은 고부가가치를 창출하며 해외로까지 본격적으로 수출되고 있는 국내의 유아용 애 니메이션의 질적 향상에 목적이 있으며, 향후 더 많은 사례 분석과 다양한 스토리에 대한 분석이 요구된다.
