This paper is regarding the various contents experienced by Yudafu (郁達夫) in Japan. Yudafu was highly affected by Japan for the formation of his knowledge, personality, and emotion. In large part, Yudafu shows both love, hatred, respect, and enmity, which resulted in his inconsistent attitude towards the life, culture, politics, and literature of Japan. He was frustrated by the reality that he was not respected while residing in Japan. Second through his experiences with the Japanese culture, he felt both admiration and hatred towards the Japanese culture. Also, when he mentioned the Chinese, he touted the superiority of the Japanese culture and the inferiority of Chinese culture and placed himself in between. This clearly shows his intention to emphasize himself because of his experiences with the superior Japanese culture. Next, through his experiences with Japanese politics he realized that individual Japanese people are different from the violent military cliques. So he tried to understand the individual Japanese people, who he experienced separately from the violent military cliques. Through this, he could set his rational perspective on the Japanese being friendly to and against Japan. Finally, through his experiences with Japanese literature, he experienced superiority but also experienced how inferior it can be when it faces the worse situations.

이 논문은 郁達夫의 일본체험에 나타나는 다양한 내용성에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 郁達夫는 지식, 인격, 정서 등의 형성에 있어서 일본의 영향을 크게 받은 작가이다. 전체적으로 郁達夫의 일본에 대한 체험과 관점에는 사랑과 증오, 존경심과 적개심이 함께 작용하고 있다. 그래서 일본에 대한 생활 체험, 문화 체험, 정치 체험, 그리고 문학 체험의 각 영역에 모순된 태도가 나타나게 되는 것이다. 그는 일본에서의 생활 체험을 통해 자신이 높이 인정받지 못하는 현실에 절망한다. 다음으로 그는 일본의 문화체험을 통해 일본문화에 대한 선망과 미움을 동시에 느낀 것으로 나타난다. 또한 중국인을 전제로 하였을 때에는 일본문화의 우월성과 중국문화의 열등성을 병치시키고 그 사이에 자신을 위치시킨다. 거기에는 우월한 일본문화의 체험자인 자신을 부각시키려는 의도가 분명히 드러나 있다. 다음으로 일본의 정치체험을 통해 개별적 일본인들과 폭력적 군벌들이 다르다는 점을 깨닫는다. 그래서 그는 자신이 직접 체험한 개별 일본인들과 폭력적 군벌들을 차별화하여 이해하고자 한다. 이를 통해 친일과 항일을 모순없이 진행할 수 있다는 자신의 이성적 일본관을 형성할 수 있었던 것이다. 마지막으로 일본의 문학체험을 통해 일본문학의 뛰어남을 절감하는 한편, 그것이 극한 상황에 처하게 되었을 때 얼마나 저열해질 수 있는지를 알게 된다.
