In a discussion of modern housing and urban problems, it is estimated that the importance of Le Corbusier is very big. This study notes that the consistent apartment housing type study of Le Corbusier began in earnest from Immeuble-villas. Also in the examination of the social background of Immeuble-villas, it is found that those subjects, which are on the rise in current downtown residence discussion, were mentioned. Thus, this study has significance that suggests the comparative viewpoint about the inspection of modern urban residence planning by shedding new light on the essential issues about modern apartment housing that were covered through the suggestion of I-V by Le Corbusier. Through analysis, it shows that he did not restrict the meaning of apartment housing as one building of group of buildings with the economic reason, but saw organic existence, i.e. one part of huge organization that expands from family to society and from residential unit to city. In spite formation of enough social bond of sympathy about uniformity problem of domestic residential type of today, lots of effort would be in need to change the urban scenery. These issues of modern apartment housing discussed in here would suggest comparative value in the various possibility research of current urban residential type.

근대의 주거와 도시문제 논의에 있어서, 르 꼬르뷔제가 차지하는 비중은 매우 크다고 평가된다. 여기서는 르 꼬르뷔제의 일관된 집합주거 유형 연구가 ‘임메블르-빌라’(Immeuble-villas)로부터 본격화되었다는 점에 주목하였다. 또한 I-V가 제안된 사회적 배경 을 살펴보면 흥미롭게도 오늘날의 도심주거 논의에서도 대두되는 주제들이 거론되었음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 르 꼬르뷔제가 I-V의 제안을 통해 다루었던 근대 집합주거에 관한 궁극적 이슈들을 재조명함으로써 현대의 도시주거 계획방향 점검에 대해 비교의 시각을 제공하는 데 그 의의가 있다. 분석을 통하여 그는 집합주거의 의미를 경제적 이유로 군집을 이룬 하나의 건물로 한정하지 않고, 가족에서 사회로, 단위주거에서 도시로 확장되는 거대 조직의 일부인 유기적 존재로 보았음을 알 수 있었다. 오늘날, 국내 주거유형의 획일성 문제에 대해 충분한 사회적 공감대가 형성되었음에도 불구하고, 도시의 풍경이 변화되기까지는 아직 많은 노력이 필요할 것이다. 여기서 논의된 근대 집합주거의 쟁점들이 현대 도시주거유형의 다양한 가능성 탐구에 있어서 비교의 가치를 제공하였으면 한다.
