The purpose of this study is to search for the future tasks of the Korean Society for the study of Christian Religious Education(KSCRE) which was established 50 years ago. In order to achieve this purpose, this study includes two kinds of prospects, including the prospects for the future of Christian education in Western society and the prospects for the future of Christian education in the Korean context by analyzing five fields of Christian education including church, school, family, media, and society. On the basis of this analysis, this study suggests two kinds of future tasks for the KSCRE. One is the academic task and the other is the task of activities in the KSCRE. The academic tasks include some common tasks and also tasks according to each field. The common task means one which should be pursued irrespective of the Christian education fields. This study suggests five common tasks for the KSCRE. The first is to study the appropriate response of Christian education to the continuously growing Postmodern tendency in the future. The second is to study the ways of Christian education in the era of multimedia communication. The third is the study of the change of Christian education in the context of the multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic society that comes with globalization. The fourth is the study of new methods of Christian education which emphasize the importance of the community and personal relationship. The fifth is the effort toward a new understanding of Christian spirituality and Christian spiritual formation. This study also suggests tasks in each field of Christian education. The most important task in the field of the church is the development of alternative models to the church schooling paradigm which discloses the serious current limitations. The task for the school field is to study the possibility of religious education in the public education context of Korea. The task for the family field is to study the recovery of Christian family education in the future. The task for the media field is to develop methodologies of Christian education which are relevant to the multi-media communication era. The task for the social field is Christian education relevant to the unification of North and South Korea and to preserving the environment. Finally, as a path to achieving these purposes, this study suggests activities for the KSCRE that include aiding academic research, changes in the practice, and the formation of the academic community.

본 논문은 창립 50주년을 맞이한 한국기독교교육학회의 미래를 조망하면서 향후 과제가 무엇인지를 모색하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 먼저 서구 기독교교육의 미래 전망을 살펴보았고, 한국 기독교교육의 미래 전망을 교회, 학교, 가정, 미디어, 사회 등의 다섯 가지 기독교교육 현장을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 한국 기독교교육학회의 미래 과제를 학문적 과제와 학회 활동의 과제로 나누어 설정하였다. 학문적 과제는 다시 공통적 과제와 현장별 과제로 구분하여 제시하였다. 공통적 과제는 현장과 관계없이 연구되어야 할 과제로서 다섯 가지 과제를 제안하였다. 첫째는 지속적으로 심화될 포스트모던 경향에 대해 기독교교육이 어떻게 응전해야할 지를 탐구하는 연구이다. 둘째는 멀티미디어 커뮤니케이션 시대에 기독교교육이 어떤 방식으로 수행되어야하는지를 모색하는 연구이다. 셋째는 세계화 및 지구촌화의 확산과 이로 인한 다문화, 다종교, 다인종 사회의 도래에 따른 기독교교육의 변화에 대한 연구이다. 넷째는 기독교교육에 있어서 공동체의 의미와 인격적 관계의 중요성을 고려한 새로운 기독교교육 방법론에 관한 연구이다. 다섯째는 기독교 영성에 대한 새로운 이해와 기독교 영성교육에 관한 연구이다. 또한 현장별 과제가 제시되었는데, 교회영역의 가장 큰 과제로는 교회학교에 대한 대안적 모델 연구를 들 수 있다. 학교영역을 위한 과제로는 종교교육의 가능성에 관한 연구가, 가정영역을 위한 과제로는 가정교육의 회복에 관한 연구, 미디어영역을 위한 과제로는 멀티미디어 시대에 걸맞는 기독교교육방법 연구, 그리고 사회영역을 위한 과제로는 기독교통일교육을 비롯한 평화교육과 환경교육 연구를 제안하였다. 그리고 이러한 연구를 활성화하고 실제적으로 현장을 변화시키기 위한 학회활동의 과제를 학문연구, 현장변화, 학문 공동체 형성을 위한 과제로 나누어 제시하였다.
