This research analyzed various education methods to improve the perception and attitude on the subject of “handicapped”. In the analysis process, I investigated the changing process of children’s perception towards the handicapped children. Additionally, I investigated the general features in the perception changing process, exploring the educational meaning of the various activities for improving the perception in the field of children education. I used the qualitative data on the ‘handicapped related activities’ from the 5 year old class in the kindergarten affiliated with C University from 6 May 2008 to 10 June 2008. The research questions of this research are as follows. First, how does the children’s perception of ‘handicap’ and ‘handicapped person’ change in the class? The perception and understanding of each child are totally different from each other before the class. However, as the class goes on, the new perception is established with the intentional introduction of the subject and the offering of information by a teacher. Furthermore, in terms of the ‘type’ and ‘terms’, children come to have the correct understanding with their voluntary concern so they can recognize the capability of a ‘handicapped’ person. The change of attitude naturally leads to the right understanding. Second, how the attitude of children towards the person changed by the ‘handicap’ program? There are four types of attitudes in the changing process of children’s attitude. First, ‘fear’ and ‘un-familiarity’ turn out to be ‘familiarity’ with the progress of the program. The ‘avoidance’ children improved by the activity to think in the place of the ‘handicapped’. The other prominent attitude was ‘compassion’. They recognized that all people are precious and special, so that they could focus on the common features with the ‘handicapped’ rather than differences, knowing they could make friends with those who have different abilities. In the meantime the ‘conditional acceptance’ changed into ‘active acceptance’. The program in which children take initiative naturally improves the understanding and attitude towards the ‘handicapped’ in the non-handicapped children class. The program may take an important role to form integrated education. In terms of the role of the program, the ‘handicap’ program in the class has important meaning.
