Perspectives on Life in Philosophical Debates during Pre-Qin Dynasty Lee, Hyang-Man (Sogang Univ.) The main purpose of this article is to find “new meaning of life” through study of perspectives on life appeared in the philosophical debates during Pre-Qin dynasty. Perspectives on life in Pre-Q'in dynasty can be divided into cultural and philosophical Dimensions. In cultural dimension ancient tree Chinese dynasties (Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasty) the developed form of humanistic perspective on life were shown, from universal natural life to religious perspective and humanistic perspective on life. The humanistic perspective on life during Zhou Dynasty presented features of political life. Political perspective on life of ruler wasuniversalized as social perspective on life by Confucius. Furthermore, Confucius emphasized on the moral perspective on life. Post-Confucius Mozi presented the radical social perspective on life by moral law and Yangzi developed the radical natural perspective on life. These radical perspective on life were overcome by Mengzi and Zhuangzi. Mengzi sought that moral disposition of life is manifested in society. Zhuangzi developed the immanent meaning as contemplative perspective on life through the freedom. These two perspective on life is giving a new outlook on our contemporary universal perspective.

이 연구는 선진(先秦) 시대의 철학사상안에 나타난 생명관에 대 한 탐구를 통해 현대 생명관에 대한 새로운 의미를 발견하는 데 목 적이 있다. 선진세대의 생명관은 문화적인 차원과 철학적인 차원 으로 나눌 수 있다. 문화적인 차원에서 중국 고대의 삼대문화는 원 형적인, 보편적인 자연 생명관에서 종교적 생명관, 인문적 생명관 으로 발전 형태를 보여주고 있다. 주대의 인문적인 생명관은 정치 적 생명관의 특성을 보여주고 있다. 공자의 철학의 시대에 들어와 서 통치자의 정치적 생명관은 개인의 사회적 생명관으로 발전하였 다. 나아가 공자는 도덕적 생명관의 기초를 마련하였다. 공자이후 묵자는 보편적인 도덕률을 통한 극단적인 사회적 생명관을 발전시 켰다. 반면에 양자는 극단적인 자연적 생명관을 발전시켰다. 이 두 극단적 생명관은 맹자와 장자에 이르러 극복되었다. 맹자의 도덕 적 생명관은 덕성을 통하여 생명성이 사회적으로 발현되는 것을 추구하였다. 장자는 관조적인 생명관으로 자유를 통한 생명의 내 재적인 의미를 발전시켰다. 이 두 생명관은 현대의 보편적 생명관 에 새로운 전망을 주고 있다.
