Every year, the entry rate of Korean missionaries to Japan is increasing. In 2008, over 1300 missionaries were dispatched and established Korean churches in several cities in Japan. In addition, the Korean missionaries have provided classes related to Korean culture, such as Korean language classes and Korean cooking classes as a strategy in order to evangelize the Japanese to the Korean church. This was possible due to the Korean boom which started from the famous Korean drama called [FuyunoSonata]. However, the Japanese have had difficulty trying to adapt to the Korean church. They often lose their religious beliefs and leave the church after some time. What would be the reason behind this? This paper includes quotations from two theses written by two Korean church scholars and interviews of fifteen Japanese and Korean pastors. Through this research, I will analyze how Japanese receive Christianity as well as how they think of the Korean church. The most important point that Korean Christians and missionaries, who are passionate in faith, must understand is where the Korean church and Christianity are positioned in the Japanese society. It is important for the Korean church to be accepted positively. In order to do this, Korean missionaries should not try to evangelize the Japanese to the Korean with their current methods.

한국선교사들의 일본진출이 매년 늘어, 2008년에는 1300명이 넘는 선교사들이 일본에 파송 되어, 도시의 곳곳에 한국인 교회를 세우고 있다. 또한 한국인 교회들은 배용준의「겨울동화」라는 드라마로 시작된「한류열풍」을 이용해, 한국어교실을 비롯한 한국음식강좌, 한국문화체험강좌 등의 선교전략으로 일본인들을 전도하고 있다. 그러나 그렇게 한국인 교회에 발을 들어선 일본인들은 정착하지 못하고, 일정한 시간이 되면 교회를 떠나, 결국은 신앙마저 잃고 만다. 그 이유는 도대체 무엇일까? 이 논문을 완성하기 위해 필자는, 문헌조사와 인터뷰조사를 실시했으며(한/일 목사님 총 15명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시했으며, 2명의 한국인 교회 연구자들의 논문을 인용함), 이 조사들을 통해, 일본인들이 기독교를 어떻게 인식하고 있는지, 더 나아가 한국인 교회를 어떻게 생각하고 있는지를 분석할 수가 있었다. 열정적인 신앙으로 일본선교를 꿈꾸는 선교사들과 한국인 크리스천들이, 먼저 인식해야 할 사실은, 일본사회에서 기독교와 한국인 교회가 어떤 위치에 있는지 파악하고, 그 사실을 적극적으로 받아들여야 한다는 것이다. 이러한 적극적인 수긍 없이, 한국에서 해오던 방법대로 일본인들에게 다가 간다면, 선교를 하는 사람도, 선교를 받는 사람도 모두가 상처를 받게 될 것이다.
