Brain drain is an issue in Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. This paper documented the current state of educated and skilled human resources in the region and analyzed the structure of their net-outflow. Regarding the skilled human resources as junior college graduates and above, we analyzed cases of newly employed college graduates and re-employed workers with experience. The rate of outflow from Daegu-Gyeongbuk of the first group was about 30-38% during 2006-2009 and showed increasing tendency. Especially, university graduates and above are more likely to outflow to the capital area. The ratio of outflow of workers with experience was about 15-25%. However, the size of net-outflow of university graduates and above to the capital area was on the decrease from 2007.

대구·경북지역에서는 인재유출이 심각한 지역의 이슈가 되고 있다. 본 연구는 대구·경북지역의 인재 현황을 파악하고 인재 유출구조를 분석하였다. 전문대 이상의 학력을 지닌 경제활동인구를 인재로 정의하고 대졸 신규 취업과 경력직 재취업을 통한 인재유출을 분석하였다. 2006-2009년 동안 졸업생 신규 취업을 통한 인재유출은 전문대의 경우 약 28-30%, 4년제 대졸 약 37-39%를 기록하였으며 증가 추세를 보여주었다. 이를 학력별 지역별로 보면 전문대졸 인재의 유출은 수도권 보다 대구-경북 간에 일어나는 경향이 강하고, 4년제 대졸이상 인재의 경우는 대구와 경북 모두 수도권으로의 순유출이 상당한 규모로 발생하고 있으며 증가 추세에 있다. 경력직 지역인재의 유출은 약 15-25%에 달하였다. 4년제 대졸이상 경력직의 경우는 순유출이 지속되고 있지만 2007년을 기점으로 순유출이 감소하고 있다. 더욱이 전문대 경력직은 수도권에서 순유입이 발생하고 있다.
