Purpose : This study verified an effect of clinical art therapy on hospice cancer patient and their pain. And it conducted for reasoning the art field and their activities in clinical art therapy. Methods : The subject of this study was inpatient of C Hospital hospice ward that is located in Seoul. For the study method, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used for self-assessment of subjective pain. Results : First, clinical art therapy program made a positive effect on the level of pain for hospice cancer patient that their pain significantly decreased (p＜.05). Second, the area of art for hospice cancer patient included artistic appreciation, simple techniques as well as drawing. As the result, it was helpful to continue the program. By using familiar material, the program helped patients to feel achievement. Conclusion : As the results indicated above, clinical art therapy was effective in reducing the level of the pain for hospice cancer patients, and was helpful to promote their quality of life. 목 적：본 연구는 임상미술치료가 호스피스 암환자의 통증에 미치는 영향을 검증하고, 임상미술치료에서 의 미술의 영역과 활동을 고찰해보고자 했다. 방 법：본연구대상자는 서울시에 소재한 C 병원 호스피스 병동의 입원환자였으며 연구도구로서 주관적인 통증의 자가 평가를 위해서 시각적 사상 척도(Visual analog scale, VAS)를 사용하였다. 결 과：첫째, 임상미술치료가 호스피스 암환자의 통증을 감소시키는데 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 연구 결과 호스피스 암환자의 통증은 p＜.05수준에서 유의미하게 감소하였다. 둘째, 호스피스 암환자를 위한 미술 활 동은 그리거나 만드는 영역 외에도 감상이나 간단한 기법으로 임상미술치료를 지속시킬 수 있었으며 미술 재료는 친숙하며 간편하게 사용할 수 있은 재료를 사용하여 성취감을 느낄 수 있었다. 결 론：임상미술치료가 호스피스 암환자의 통증의 완화에 영향을 미치고 삶의 질 향상에 도움을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다.
