Temple Grandin (1995) once said, “I think through drawing. Language is like foreign language to me. When I hear words or read writings, I translate them into a colorful movie with sound and run it like a video tape in my mind.” There have been many efforts on viewing the ability of the disabled children from different perspectives. One of them is understanding on the idiot savants shown frequently in Asperger’s syndrome. Even though theoretical foundations are not sufficient to explain all features that these savants show, study results up to now are thought to be enough to bring a change in the perception that the disabled children have special talents too. Therefore, after reorganizing thinking features of the austically disabled children through the special talents that these children posses, all findings were arranged to understand these children as well as emphasize a need of educational interest. 템플 그랜딘(1995)은 나는 그림으로 생각한다. 언어는 나한테는 외국어와도 같다. 말을 듣거나 글을 읽으면 나는 사운드까 지 완벽하게 갖춰진 총천연색 영화로 번역을 해서 머릿속에서 비디오테이프를 돌리듯 돌린다고 한 바 있다 . 장애를 가진 아 동들의 능력을 다른 각도에서 보려는 시도가 있어 왔다. 그 중에 야아퍼거 증후군에서 특히 많이 나타나는 idiot savants에 대한 이해이다. 이들 Savant들이 나타내는 제반 특성을 설명하기에는 아직 그 이론적 근거가 충실하지 않 지만 지금까지의 연구결과만으로도 장애 아동들게도 특별한 재능이 있다는 인식의 전환을 가져오기에는 충분하다고 본다. 따라서 이제까지 주종을 이루어 온 자폐성 장애아동의 특별한 재능을 통한 이들의 사고 특성을 정리함으로써 이들에 대한 이해는 물론 교육 적 관심의 필요성을 일깨우는데 목적을 가지고 제반 자료를 정리해 보았다.
