The purpose of this study was to analyze the value of character education that to pursue in Home Economics Education. To this end, first in the 21st century, our society should pursue what is the value of character education should be structured to whether the previous studies were reviewed. As a result, the 21st century, the value of character education in our society to pursue the seven kinds of values(relationships, morality, wholeness, sprituality, respect of life, creativity, and democratic citizenship) was illustrating. Second, character education area in Home Economics Education that by analyzing the nature & goals of Home Economics Education and by analyzing fami1y life as an target of Home Economics Education were extracted 'the self, the others, the world. And the value of gratitude and caring was the value of Home Economics Education to pursue for character education.
Gratitude also stem from ignorance and blind obedience to it is not caring, thoughtful observation and understanding, meaning ’mature consideration' was also another major value. The value of gratitude and caring in a Positive Psychology emphasizes the core values that to change human life happily has been identified as the most significant value. Thus, Home Economics Education is the main character education curriculum that to contribute to the happiness of human life, to teach an important value to students by teaching to bring a significant change. Finally, this study were analyzed the 2007 revision Technology. Home Economics Education curriculum to illustrate 'gratitude and caring, mature consideration' to the value of Home Economics Education. As a result, the value of gratitude and caring in Home Economics Education curriculum was reflected throughout. In addition, this study could be i1lustrated the various teaching-learning activities in Home Economics Education classes that can teach the value of gratitude and caring.

이 연구는 전인교육을 실천하기 위한 중점적인 교과로서 가정과교육의 역할에 관심을 가지고/ 가정과교육에서 실천해야 할 인성교육의 중접적인 가치가 무엇이 되어야 할 것인지를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 우선 21 세기 우리 사회에서 추구해야 할 인성교육의 가치가 무엇이어야 할지를 추출하기 위하여 선행연구를 고찰하여, 범교과적인 7가지 인성(관계성 l 도덕성/ 전일성/ 영성/ 생명성/ 창의성/ 민주시민성)과 자기/ 타인/ 세상의 인성교육 영역을 설정하였다. 이어 가정과교육의 성격 및 목표/ 가정과교육이 대상으로 하는 가정생활의 특성에 대한 분석을 바탕으로, ‘감사l 의 가치와I 생각을 행위로 실천하는 i돌봄r 이란 가정과교육의 중점 가치를 추출하였다. 또 무지에서 비롯되는 막연한 감사나 맹목적인 돌봄이 되지 않도록， 상황에 대한 사려깊은 관찰과 이해를 강조하는 I 숙고(熟考)'를 또다른 주요 가치로 추출하였다. 감사와 돌봄의 가치는 긍정심리학에서 강조하는 가치의 하나로/ 인간의 삶을 행복하게 변화시키는 데 가장 의미있는 변수로 최근 주목되는 가치의 하나이다. 따라서 가정과교육은 삶의 행복에 기여하는 중요한 가치를 학습자에게 교육하고l 학습자의 유의미한 변화를 가져오게 할 수 있는 주요한 인성교육 교과로 설명할 수 있었다. 한편 ’감사, 돌봄, 숙고‘란 인성교육의 가치가 가정과 교육과정에 어느 정도 반영되어 있으며/ 실제적인 교수·학습 활동과정에서 어떻게 실천될 수 있는가를 예시하기 위하여， 2007년 개정 기술·가정 교육과정의 가정과교육 영역의 교육과정을 분석하였다. 그 결과 가정과교육에서는 최근 인간의 행복에 기여하는 감사와 돌봄이란 가치가 교육과정 전반에 잘 반영되어 있었다. 이에 감사와 돌봄의 가치를 실제 교수·학습 과정에 적용할 수 있는 다양한 교수·학습 활동을 예시할 수 있었다.
후속 연구에서는 이 연구에서 강조한 감사와 돌봄/ 숙고(熟考)성을 중심으로 한 가정과 교과 철학에 대한 논의가 지속되어야 할 것이다. 또 이 연구에서 예시한 교수·학습활동 을 반영한 교수·학습과정안이 개발되어 실제 학교 현장에 적용되고I 그 효과를 검증하는 수업 효과 분석 연구가 후속되어야 할 것이다.
