The purpose of this paper is to find the factors that influence the adoption of RFID technology and RFID devices from the consumer perspective. The literature indicates that although the RFID technology has been introduced long time ago, a wide spread adoption by the consumer has been retarded. In this study, a two-stage questionnaire survey has been performed to discover the significant factors that affect the consumer's attitude toward the acceptance and rejection of the RFID devices. Factor analysis was applied to discover the principal components and factor groups that affect the consumer attitudes toward RFID. The 'technology acceptance model' and the 'perceived risk' concept played the major reference frame in organizing the research
structure and designing the questionnaire.
Important discoveries from this research are as follows. 'Perceived usefulness' and 'perceived ease of use' are the positive factors that influence consumers toward their adoption of the RFID devices. On the other hand, 'financial risk' works as the negative factor toward the adoption of RFID.
