In the solar blind UV region of the spectrum (240~280nm) solar radiation is completely absorbed by the ozone layer of the earth's atmosphere, so thereisn't background radiation at the earth's surface. The main advantage in UV imaging is the low clutter environment.
This situation can be utilized for the detection and imaging of very weak UV signals under conditions of full daylight.
The UV optical equipment can detect solar blind UV light emitted from weak flame or corona discharge around surface of the earth, it consists of UV optical lens, solar blind filter, UV image intensifier tube and high sensitive sensor.
UV Electro-Optical Equipments are used as missile warning systems which detect UV signals emitting from missile flame. This paper describes
the basic concept and characteristics of various warning system and analyses the requirements in order to develop the UV missile warning system. And we also describe the industrial UV camera which is used to find corona discharge in electric power line and used to identify the fingerprint.
