This study investigated how to activate the viewer-participation program, based on present status and problems of that program. To pursue this purpose, this study employed a survey research in which that program's PDs, audience producers, and committees participated.
The results of this study were: First, involving present status of that program most participants showed somewhat positive responses over average score(3-point) in programming, criteria for program selection fee, program selection and its satisfaction, program supply and demand, program quality. Second, relating to activating suggestions for that program most participants showed that they realized well various legal, institutional, political, practical supporting systems in the operation of that program. Finally, for activation of that program it is important to build a cooperation system among media centers, broadcasting stations and educational institutions.

이 연구는 지난 10년간 화두가 되고 있는 시청자참여프로그램에 대한 현황 및 문제점을 바탕으로 다각적인 활성화 방안을 탐색하고자 했고, 이를 위해 시청자참여프로그램 운영 방송사담당자, 시청자제작자, 운영위원을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 국내 시청자참여프로그램의 현황과 관련하여 관련자들은 시청자참여프로그램의 편성 및 프로그램 채택료기준, 프로그램 선정 결과 및 만족도, 프로그램 수급 및 수준 등에 있어서 대부분 보통이상의 반응을 나타냈다. 또한 시청자참여프로그램 관련자들은 다양한 정책적, 법제도적 및 실무적 운영 개선 방안들을 긍정적으로 고려했고, 다양한 홍보 및 광고 방안과 중요성도 잘 깨닫고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결국 시청자참여프로그램의 활성화를 위해서는 미디어센터, 방송사 및 교육기관 간의 공조체계가 중요하다.
