This writing is an attempt to analyse new media art from the view point of Russian Constructivism, In particular I focused on the influence of Russian Constructivism on new media art. The study was based on the principles of Constructivism: Faktura(texture/facture), Tektonika(tectonic), Konstructysia(construction). Also, through Faktura, which is the way of dealing with materials, I also examined how materials, which had been used as the secondary things in a whole artwork, existed as both themes of artworks and elements that formed the artwork. As a result, like who Constructivists tried to escape from the conventional concept of art, new media artists also constantly try to expand the boundary of art. That is, as the scope of materials that new media artists can choose is getting expanded in the modern era, the extent of which material itself can exist alone is also broadened.

이 글은 러시아 구성주의의 관점에서 뉴미디어 아트 작품들을 해석하려는 시도로 특히 러시아 구성주의의 조형원칙인 팍투라(Faktura), 텍토니카(Tektonika), 컨스트럭치아(Konstructysia)를 중심으로 미디어 아트에 구성주의가 어떻게 영향을 끼치고 있는지에 중심을 두었다. 특히 물질을 다루는 방식인 팍투라를 통해 구성주의 이전까지 작품의 부차적인 것으로 사용되었던 물질들이 어떻게 작품의 주제이자 작품을 이루는 요소로 존재하는지를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 구성주의자들이 그들의 조형원칙을 중심으로 기존의 전통적인 예술관념에서 벗어나고자했듯이 뉴미디어 아트 작가들 또한 끊임없이 예술의 영역을 확장시키고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 즉 현대에 이르러 보다 다양하고 선택의 폭이 넓어진 물질의 범위는 뉴미디어 아트 작품에서 다루어지는 물질을 그 자체만으로도 예술로서 존립할 수 있는 범위 또한 확장되고 있는 것이다.
