The aim of this study is for understanding the identity of sports anthropology and for finding the ways for improving future research by searching for some problems in the consideration of the identity of sports anthropology through the commentary on this study.
The result related with this study is following.
First, It needs to consider whether a certain method and theoretical framework should be applied with regard to inspection methodology about a variety of cultural phenomena surrounding the sports and make an opportunity to gain the identity and creativity through a firm approach to historical data as well as periodic character of an object of study. Second, in case of objectivity of the oral life history research methods most being challenged, the question form about the
authenticity issue of the researh achievement must be changed from asking 'what' questions that request the truth about what the speakers experience to asking 'why' questions that demand
the narrative memory of the speakers Third, the oral history must be written thinking what kind of
writing style will be applied in order to convey the contents of the study effectively and recalling 'Will readers keep reading with interest in the report?' Fourth, literature study should be performed to reinterpret the spirit of the information contained in the literature appropriately to today's context rather than just to follow the information literally. In doing so, the creation of new sports culture could be possible.

본 연구는 스포츠인류학의 정체성을 이해하고, 스포츠인류학 연구(拙稿)의 심사평을 통하여 정체성 제고에 따른 연구방법을 찾아내어 추후 연구에 필요한 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이와 관련한
연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스포츠를 둘러싼 다양한 문화 현상에 대한 연구는 연구 대상의 시대성, 역사 자료성에 대한 확고한 접근 방법과 이론적 분석틀의 적용을 통해서 스포츠인류학의 정체성및 독창성을 확보할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 둘째, 구술 생애사 연구방법이 가장 도전을 받고 있는 객관성에 대해서는 연구 성과물의 진정성 문제를 구술자가 경험한 사실들이 ‘무엇’이었는가에 대한 질문으로부터 구술자의 기억 서술을 묻는 ‘왜’라는 질문 방식으로 바꾸어야 한다. 셋째, 구술사는 연구 내용을 효과적으로 전달하기 위해 어떠한 글쓰기 방식을 적용할 것인가를 생각하면서 글을 써야 하며, '독자가 계속 관심을 가지고 읽을 것인가’라는 질문을 상기하면서 보고서를 작성해야 한다. 넷째, 문헌연구는 사료에 담겨 있는 내용을 문자 그대로 답습하는 것이 아니라, 그 정신을 오늘날의 상황에 맞게 재해석함으로써 새로운 스포츠문화의 창출이 가능하다.
