The purpose of this study is to search for the origin of the term, Sibpalgi and Sibpalgye(Eighteen Skills) in sport anthropological perspective in the relation to the terms appearing in Muyebotongji.
The conclusions are as follows. First, Sibpalbanmuye(18 martial arts) had in common with the contents of Sibpalgi in various ways, but the term, Sibpalgi was never used in Song Dynasty. Second, it is desirable to use China Musool, China Gooksool, Wushu or 00faction, 00moon, 00kwon which have been used in China since 1928. Third, The term Sibpalgi has been surely used to represent the traditional martial arts in Korea. Nevertheless, when the periodical situations are considered in sport anthropological way, it is possible to call chinese martial arts the term Sibpalgi or Sibpalgye.

이 연구**의 목적은 조선시대 무예 체계의 내용을 담은 무예도보통지(武藝圖譜通志)의 ‘십팔기(十八技)’와 연관시켜 중국 무술 ‘십팔기(十八技)’, ‘십팔계(十八戒·十八系)‘란 용어에 대한 시원을 스포츠인류
학적 관점에서 찾는 것이다. 이와 관련하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 송나라 시기의 ‘18반무예’가 ’십팔기‘와 여러 내용면에서는 비슷하였지만 ‘십팔기’라는 용어는 아니었다. 둘째, ‘십팔기’는 중국에서 1928년 이후 사용했던 ‘중국 武術’, ‘중국 國述’, ‘중국 傳統武術’, ‘쿵푸(功夫)’란 용어와 ‘oo派’, ‘oo門’, ‘oo拳(掌)’ 등으로 사용하는 것이 바람직하였다. 셋째, ‘십팔기’는 조선 후기의 전통무예를 대표하는 용어로 사용되었다. 그렇지마는, 시대적 상황을 스포츠인류학적 관점에서 보면 중국 무술 ‘십팔기․십팔계’라는 용어 사용도 가능하다고 제언하였다
