The purpose of this paper is to provide several suggestions for Christian alternative education in the study abroad phenomenon at an early age in Korea. The study abroad phenomenon at an early age in Korea is a general trend because of the influence of globalization or internationalization. However, this trend provides not only positive aspects but also negative aspects. Since the year 2007, this trend reached its peak; however, it is still progressing. It causes several problems in a student’s personal life, relationships with his or her family, and in social or national aspects. At this moment, Christian alternative education is focused by many parents who want to send their children to abroad for education. The focus on Christian alternative education is especially increasing because of the emptiness, limits and collapse of public education in Korea. However, there are questions and doubts concerning the success of this trend due to the rapid growth of the Christian alternative education. Therefore, the following suggestions will aid the Christian alternative education in achieving its original purpose: by providing a clear philosophy of Christian education, suggesting solutions for developmental problems, providing a program to select and train qualifying teachers, providing an environment to build family relationships, providing a system of scholarship. and providing a program that helps the students to adjust to society.

하나가 되어가는 지구촌의 영향으로 유학이란 단어가 초등학생들에게까지 일반화되는 추세이다. 이로 인하여 발생한 조기유학은 긍정적인 측면도 있지만 부정적인 측면이 많이 노출되고 있다. 2007년을 기점으로 정점화에 이른 조기유학의 실태는 아직도 현재진행형이고 이로 인하여 학생 개인적 차원, 학생의 가정적 차원, 그리고 속해 있는 사회와 국가적 차원에서의 문제점들이 발생하고 있다. 조기유학시대의 대안으로 발현한 것은 아니지만 대안학교 운동은 조기유학시대를 맞이한 현재 더 많은 학부모들이나 학생들에게 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 특별히 기독교대안학교는 공교육의 부재 혹은 붕괴로 대변되는 현재의 공교육제도와 이와 더불어 조기유학에 대한 급증하는 관심을 해결해 줄 소위 또 하나의 대안으로서의 교육제도로 급격한 성장 추세에 있다. 그러나 우후죽순 격으로 나타나는 대안학교, 과연 이대로가 좋은가 하는 것은 의문이다. 따라서 이에 대한 방안으로 명확한 기독교교육철학에 근거한 운영, 학습자의 자아정체성 형성 등과 같은 발달과제에 대한 대안의 제시, 교사선발과 훈련의 제도적 지침 마련, 가족유대 관계를 위한 프로그램 마련, 보편적 교육의 기회를 제공하기 위한 재정적 지원책 마련, 졸업생들의 사회적응 프로그램 등의 제도를 마련해 줄 때 기독교대안학교는 그 본래의 목적을 달성할 수 있을 것이다.
