In this paper, the importance and necessity of lay theology is considered and discussed as being one of the main discourses for church renewal. The need of church education based on lay theology is stressed not only for renewal inside the church, but also for an outward mission. In a time of postmodernism and post-Christianity, church education should pay attention to the authentic meaning of the gospel and its piety, rather than promoting ‘popular piety.’ How do Christians realize the authenticity of their belief? How do they make decisions using Christian values about a number of issues and problems facing their daily lives? In order to answer these questions, laity needs the training to think theologically. To help laity’s theological thinking, the Shared Praxis approach provides an example of five movements. The Shared Praxis approach enables us to create a space for exploration about issues that the laity encounters in their work place. As a historical agent and subject of learning, participants engage in collaborating the interpretation of their life situation with biblical texts. This will allow us to live out the calling of a Christian to be responsible for their authentic Christian identity.

이 논문은 교회갱신을 위한 담론 중의 하나로 평신도 신학하기의 중요성과 필요성을 강조하고 있다. 또한 평신도 신학하기를 통하여 교회 안의 갱신과 개혁을 이룰 뿐 아니라 세상을 향하여 하나님의 선교를 펼치는 교회 교육의 필요성에 대하여 논의하였다. 포스트 모던(postmodern)시대, 혹은 후기독교(postchristianity)시대의 교회교육은 ‘대중적 경건’을 진작시키기보다, 복음과 경건의 진정한 의미를 가르칠 수 있어야 한다. 그러기 위해서 기독교인들이 교회 안팎에서 부딪치는 여러 가지 문제들에 관하여 신앙적 가치관으로 일상(daily life)의 선택과 결정을 할 수 있는 신학적 사고의 훈련을 받을 필요가 있다. 쉐어드 프락시스의 성경연구 방법은 이러한 사고와 훈련의 공간을 형성하여 준다. 이 공간에서 역사적 배움의 주체로서의 참가자들이 실존 속에서 경험하는 이야기와 비전들에 대한 질문과 탐구가 시작되고 대화를 통한 해석이 이루어진다. 이들의 일상의 이야기는 성경의 이야기와 만나서 서로를 해석하여 주고 서로의 뜻이 분명히 드러나면서 합의된 결정은 이 세상 속으로 나아가는 믿는자들에 의하여 삶으로 살아지게 되고 신앙적 행동과 성찰을 반복하는 동안 지역 교회의 신자들은 생각하는 그리스도인, 신학하는 기독교인으로서 자라갈 수 있을 것이다.
