Remaining unclear is the contribution of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in antioxidase and physical performance in trained subjects. This study investigated the effects of vitamin C ingestion on antioxidase and physical performance. 24 trained male subjects were classified two group(vitamin C ingestion group, 18.1±0.31 years; height, 171.0±3.2 cm; weight, 64.5±4.3 kg, V˙ O2max, 51.3±4.5 ml/kg/min, VIE-G; control group, 18.2±0.12 years; height, 173.13±2.1 cm; weight, 66.12±2.7 kg, V˙ O2max, 50.6±2.5 ml/kg/min). VIE-G received 1,000mg of vitamin C in powder a day, divide in four doses of 250mg over the whole period of ninety days. In the results, not significant different catalase (p=.077), glutathione reductase (p=.158). And not significant
different one maximal repetition (p=.902) and speed, agility (p=.268). However, creatine kinase(CK) was significantly decreased in VIE-G (P<.05). and 15 min (p<0.001). Thus, under the conditions of this study, CK decreased by vitamin supplement, therefore, it can attenuated lipid peroxidatin and muscle CK leakage.
