This study is a study proposal that looks at one part of enneagram application for individual and social uses: the development of a career guidance program using an enneagram. According to a precedent study, there are many cases where Korean youths are unable to select career paths that suit them. As a result, it became necessary to develop a career guidance program that promotes self-exploration and objective understanding of oneself, establishes career identity, cultivates healthy work ethics, enhances decision-making skills regarding career paths, develops capabilities and founds suitable career plans. In addition, ‘the Alternative Thoery’ on career counselling and guidance has brought attention to the perspectives on spirituality development by the likes of Bloch and etc. (1998, 2005). This study considers all of these matters synthetically. Career guidance programs that are based on existing theories such as MBTI or Holland are mainly focused on horizontal information. However one can gain vertical information on each individual's development levels with the enneagram, thus allowing more individualized career guidance. A great change will occur by looking at the youth's enneagram personality types, their basic fears, what kinds of desires and obsessions result from such fears, and the resulting attitudes and behavior and by helping raise self-awareness about such qualities to the youth. Furthermore, we expect this career guidance program using enneagram to be more effective in helping youth pursue their nature, mature their career development and spirituality development from a more long-term perspective.

본 연구는 개인과 사회에서의 에니어그램 적용의 일환으로 “에니어그램을 활용한 진로지도 프로그램개발”의 시안 연구이다. 선행연구 분석결과 우리나라 청소년들은 자신에게 맞는 진로를 적절히 선택하지 못하는 경우가 많았다. 이에 대한 방안으로 자기에 대한 탐색 및 객관적 이해, 진로정체감확립, 건전한 직업의식 함양, 진로에 대한 의사결정 기술의 증진과 능력 배양, 자신에게 맞는 진로계획의 수립 등을 위한 지도프로그램의 개발에 대한 필요성이 제기되었다. 또한 최근 진로상담 및 지도의 “대안이론”중에서 Bloch 등(1998; 2005)의 영성개발에 대한 관점이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 이런 사항들을 종합적으로 고려하여 추진되었다. 기존의 MBTI나 Holland의 유형론을 활용한 진로지도프로그램이 유형특성의 수평적 정보에 초점을 두고 있다면, 에니어그램은 각 유형별 발달수준이라는 수직적 정보를 얻을 수 있으며, 이를 통해 보다 개별화된 진로지도가 가능하다. 청소년들이 에니어그램 성격유형별로 갖는 기본적 두려움이 무엇이며, 그것이 어떤 욕망과 집착으로 이끌고, 또 태도와 행동으로 나타나는지를 이해하고 자각하는 것은 진로성숙도에 큰 변화로 이어질 것이다. 더 나아가 에니어그램을 활용한 진로지도 프로그램의 적용은 청소년들이 자기의 본질을 추구하고 보다 장기적 안목으로 성숙한 진로발달과 영성개발을 추구해갈 수 있는 효율적인 프로그램이 될 것으로 기대한다.
