This study considers that Gasa is still a creative enjoyment. For this purpose I investigated how traditional ‘Gasa’ has succeeded in the present. First, The enjoyment tradition of Gasa is divided into subtopics of the Enjoyment, Enjoyment way, Enjoyment space and Enjoyment purposes. Second, In terms of modern succession, Gasa is divided into the excavation and preservation of data, creation, literature education and performance. It was found Gasa-literature is accommodated and be used in contemporary literature. Gasa has the value for of traditional cultural tradition, and is even important to the development as regional literature. Because Gasa has rhyme characteristics and complex nature of genre. 본 연구는 현대에도 지속적으로 향유되고 창작되고 있는 ‘가사’를 향유전통과 현대적 계승의 측면에서 고찰한 것이다. 이를 위해 가사의 향유 전통을 다면적으로 살피고 현재에 계승되고 있는 모습도 다양하게 살펴보았다. 먼저 가사 향유의 전통을 가사의 향유 주체, 향유 방식, 향유 공간, 향유 목적, 향유 내용으로 나누어 살폈다. 현대적 계승의 측면에서는 자료의 발굴과 보존, 창작, 문학교육, 연행적 측면으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 가사 문학이 현대적으로 수용되고 활용될 수 있는 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 가사는 전통문화의 전승, 혹은 지역콘텐츠로서의 개발을 위해서도 중요한 가치를 가지고 있다. 이는 가사의 율격적 특성과 복합 갈래적 특성이 지금도 경쟁력을 가지고 유의미하게 우리에게 다가올 수 있었기 때문이다. 따라서 우리는 가사의 현대적 계승 형태와 발전 가능성을 타진하고 우리 문학의 전통을 새로운 시대에 맞게 향유할 수 있는 준비가 필요하다. 가사는 사라져가는 장르가 아니라 되살아나는 장르이다. 왜냐하면 우리의 내적 정서를 가장 적확하게 표현해주는 전통적인 자질을 가사가 가지고 있기 때문이다. 현대의 우리들에게는 바로 가사의 문학적 자질이 필요하다. 그러한 점에서 가사의 현대적 계승이 올바르게 이루어지도록 노력을 기울일 필요가 있다.
