Sohawjang built in 1944 is the Busan’s first apartment housing, so it has a significant meaning in housing history but it is now deteriorated and seriously damaged.
This study is conducted to look into construction backgrounds and actual situations of So-Haw-Jang among modern housing complex cases that are rarely seen in Busan. To examine the utilization situations of current housing, this study carried out the experimental research and a survey with questionnaires. By analyzing residents’characteristics and housing conditions that have not been examined through studies, it aims to find out housing-type changes during the modern period and transition characteristics of architectural planning. As the result, this study is to re-evaluate the historic value of modern architectures and leave the basic data about the actual situations of Sohawjang.
