A Critical Study on the 'Emptiness Space' in Contemporary Architecture in Korea since 1990

Popularity and diversity are coexisting in contemporary times. It looks like ironic because the former is a large-scale and the latter is a small-scale. But, actually, things are working in this way. Architecture is social products, so contemporary architecture cannot be excepted, as well. Modern architecture in Korea also persues popularity and variety. The negativism of traditional heritage properly accommodated this ironic phenomenon. In other word, Emptiness. There is a group who forms Emptiness as an architectural discourse. It is 4.3 group. Emptiness has been discoursed and formed a tidal current of Korean contemporary architecture, but infinitesimal in a critical analysis on the 'Emptiness'. This research aims we are going to re-build this emptiness by using Spinoza's theory of modes.
