Impacts of Flyng Disc Handball classes in P.E. on High schoolers' self and group consciousness

It's required to suit the level of both boys and girls and pique their interest in order to boost their active and autonomous participation in P.E. class, and that is one of the surest ways to conduct good P.E. instruction. During an eight-week period of time, a flying disc handball P.E. program was implemented in 15 normal P.E. sessions, twice a week, by teaching flying disc handball, one of new sports, to 36 high school sophomores in a class. SPSS 10.0 for Windows program was employed to obtain statistical data on mean and standard deviation to find out the influence of the program on the I-consciousness and we-consciousness of the students. Dependent-samples t-test was utilized, and the findings of the study were as follows:
First, the students got a mean of 2.41 and 4.42 on the I-consciousness pretest and posttest respectively. They showed a rise of 2.01 scores on average.
Second, as for changes between the pretest and posttest in the subareas of I-consciousness, they showed the best improvement of 2.11 scores in self-excellence, followed by relevance with 2.07, self- receptivity with 2.05, achievement orientation with 1.98 and authenticity with 1.82.
Third, in terms of we-consciousness, they got a mean of 2.25 and 4.31 on the pretest and posttest respectively. They showed a rise of 1.85 scores.
Fourth, concerning changes between the pretest and posttest in the subareas of we-consciousness, they made the best progress of 2.08 scores in a sense of unity, followed by relationship orientation with 1.99, considerateness with 1.96 and intimacy with 1.49.
The above-mentioned findings suggested that the flying disc handball P.E. instruction had an effect on fostering the I-consciousness and we-consciousness of the students by stirring up their spontaneous class participation and letting them find it interesting and delightful to take the instruction.
