This thesis is written to examine the modernity of Mongol in ‘The clear Tamir river’ by Chadrabal Rodoidamba. Chadrabal Rodoidamba is the national novelist and ‘The clear Tamir river’ is the Mongolian national novel so beloved by Mongolian people. The modernity of Mongol were also embodied by this talented artist in this novel. Two kinds of projects were suggested to the modernity of Mongol in this novel. One is the establishment of the socialist system and the other is the reformation of Mongolian Lamaism. In this novel, he embodied these projects for the modernity of Mongol from the two sides. One is the side of the structure and the other is the side of the character. This novel is constructed by three layers. The first is the historical layer, the second is the layer involved in history and the third is the layer unrelated to history. The composition of the character is similar to this structure. It is important that the relation of these three layers were natural and harmonious internally. The historical and political issues about the modernity of Mongol are suggest naturally. Therefore he embodied the modernity of Mongol in the literary form successfully.
