This study is the final research result of important Korean buddhist manuscripts within Japan area in the aid of the Korea Research Foundation and Kyushu University Faculty of Humanities. Buddhist manuscripts have transmitted to a large amount of quantity as it is sacred as Buddhist or the object of worship in Buddhism. Buddhist manuscripts is magnificent, however, not paid to public attention, and plenty of amounts are exist but cannot easily access. The main goal of this study is to contrive and develop research subject by securing good quality of research materials and cases which is not founded in recent buddhist manuscripts in Japan. According to the research results as far as I identified, the Korean Buddhist manuscripts within the scope of Japan was 46 pieces total, and 11 has not yet unidentified among them. Buddhist manuscripts introduced in this study are confined only 11 unidentified pieces which are authorized and agreed by possessor. Thus, release and area of research could be somewhat restricted. Furthermore, I conducted a direct perusal, but there could be pieces that might be open to public but research has not been done. However, 11 pieces that I researched were incontrovertible manuscripts of Goryeo or Joseon Dynasty periods and many of them were generally transmitted to Chinese, and vice versa. This study wishes to help future study of Korean buddhist manuscripts. Besides, among the buddhist manuscripts being studied or belonged to three Asian nations, Korea, Japan, and China, it could be used a fundamental information for improvement of manuscript research. Also, the study on Korean buddhist should be more focus on sensible and bibliographical examination so that nation error can be corrected and future discovery on Korean manuscript will be enlarged.

본고는 학술진흥재단과 일본 규슈대학 예술학연구실의 도움으로 일본 내에 전해지고 있는 한국사경들에 대한 조사의 결과물이다. 사경은 불화나 불상처럼 불교에서 부처님을 대신하고 예배의 대상이 되는 법신으로서 많은 양이 전해지고 있다. 그러나 사경은 화려하나 주목받지 못하고 있고, 많으나 쉽게 접할 수 없다. 본 연구는 최근 발간된 사경연구서에서 확인하지 못한 일본 내의 사경을 발굴하고 조사하여 양질의 연구자료와 사례를 확보하여 연구대상의 확대와 발전을 도모하고자 하였다. 과거의 연구자료 및 필자가 확인한 일본 내의 한국사경은 총46점이며 그중 11점이 현재까지 알려지지 않았던 사경으로 확인되었다. 본고에서는 소개하는 사경은 미공개 11점 중 소장자의 동의와 허가를 받은 사경에 국한된다. 따라서 공개의 범위와 연구가 제한적일 수 있다. 또한 가급적 직접적인 열람조사를 기본으로 하였으나 소장자의 판단에 의해 공개는 가능하나 열람조사가 진행되지 않은 사경도 있다. 그러나 필자가 확인한 11점의 사경은 논란의 여지없는 고려시대 또는 조선시대 사경으로 일본 내에서는 중국 사경으로 전해지는 경우가 많았다. 이러한 작품에 대한 국적오류는 반대의 경우도 있어 중국이나 일본의 작품이지만 한국의 사경으로 알려진 국적불명의 작품도 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 한국사경연구에 좋은 자료를 제공하여 향후 사경연구에 도움이 되기를 바라며 아울러 국내연구를 넘어 동아시아 3국이 소장하고 있는 사경의 연구에 기초자료가 되기를 바란다. 또한 일본 내에서의 한국사경이 보다 분명한 양식적 검토와 서지적 연구를 통해 국적오류를 바로 잡고 장차 추가로 더 발견될 한국 사경에 대한 연구가 확충되기를 기대한다.
