In this paper, I examine “the Women Friendly Seoul Project” that tries to reconstruct ‘the right to the city’ of Henri Lefebvre from a feminist standpoint. And then I criticize that this project can’t product ‘the differential space’ that is beyond the paternalistic ideology, because it assumes only the maternality to be a normal identity of the Woman. So I argue that we have to consider the internal difference and the emergent possibility of the particular identity of women, in order to assert the right to the difference of the woman. Finally I insist that women need to assert not only the right to difference, but also the right to solidarity, in order to make the city ‘the differential space’.

르페브르는 ‘작품에 대한 권리’, ‘도시 전유권’, ‘참여권’ 외에도 ‘중심에서 배제 되지 않을 권리’, ‘차이의 권리’ 등을 주장함으로써 도시를 ‘차이의 공간’으로 생산 해야 한다고 주장하였다. 그러나 그는 젠더의 관점에서 ‘차이의 권리’가 어떻게 실현될 수 있는지를 고찰하지는 못하였다. 이에 필자는 여성의 ‘차이의 권리’에서 출발하여 르페브르의 도시권을 재구성하고자 했던 서울시의 “여성이 행복한 도 시” 프로젝트를 살펴보고, 이 프로젝트가 도시를 기존의 가부장적 이데올로기를 넘어서는 ‘차이의 공간’으로 생산하고 있는지를 검토해 볼 것이다. 마지막으로 필 자는 여성들이 도시를 ‘차이의 공간’으로 생산하기 위해서는 ‘여성들’ 간의 차이와 ‘여성되기’의 창발적 변형 가능성을 고려하는 가운데 연대할 권리를 함께 주장해 야 한다는 결론을 내리고자 한다.
