The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of changes in overtraining related variables according to training period for triple jump players, and to present the barometers for improving performance and preventing sports injuries.
Subjects were 4 male triple jump players. 2 times of education program on overtraining and overtraining syndrome, and 3 times of interview were carried out from 24 weeks before the track and field championship. On the basis of the results obtained from the previous interviews, training period were divided into 3 phages which were the overtraining phage (3 weeks before the championship), the optimal conditioning phage (just after the final trial on the 2nd day during the championship), and the recovery phage (1 week after the championship). Serum concentrations of Creatine Kinase (CK), Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH), Testosterone (T), Cortisol (C), and Thyroxine were measured repeatedly in each phage.
As a result, the concentration of CK was seemed to be higher in the overtraining phage (p>.05). The concentration of LDH in the overtraining phage was significantly higher than that in any other phage (p<.05). The concentrations of testosterone and cortisol were seemed to be higher in the optimal conditioning phage (p>.05). T/C ratio was significantly decreased in the optimal conditioning phage (p<.05).
In conclusion, the sports specific characteristics was implied in the changes of overtrainig related variables. And it was suggested that special regard on sports specific traning volume, training intensity, energy metabolism, energy expenditure, and so on should be paid to the interpretation of the results on the overtrainig.
