Japche poetry is a generic term of all sorts of poems except regular form. There are almost 300 kinds of Japche poetry, and poet tried to express their unique conception and representation techniques. Therefore it has intense character of amusement, and many writers regarded it as negative form. Nevertheless Japche poetry has its own beauty of form, and writers can display their own writing ability through this form. And that was the reason why many writers had been concerned. The poet Nakhaseng Lee Hak-kyu(洛下生 李學逵) considered that writing poems is the most effective way to comport his own misfortune during his years of exile. Therefore he tried to emulate former great poems, and also tried to seek out his own theory about poems. Meanwhile he used diverse styles in each phase of poetry composition. His Japche poetry, about 65 poems, are the result of his effort. His Japche poetry, which were mostly written in his earlier days of exile, hadn't been restricted to amuse himself. He exposed his sense of isolation, loneliness, and his mentality by writing Japche poetry. Also he wrote various forms of Japche poetry, and this shows his writing ability well. In summary, his Japche poetry shows the motivation of his writing such like amusement and training himself. And it also shows his sense of writing as a poet in his early days.

洛下生 李學逵는 유배지에서의 불우하고 무료한 삶을 달래는 방법으로 시 창작을 가장 중요하게 여겼다. 그리하여 수시로 다양한 문인들의 시 작품을 모의하고, 자신만의 시론을 모색했으며, 창작시기의 각 단계마다 각종 시 양식을 적절하게 활용하였다. 이학규가 65수에 이르는 잡체시를 창작한 것도 이러한 작가적인 성향의 소산이다. 주로 유배초기에 창작된 이학규의 잡체시는 내용적인 측면에서 단순히 유희적인 차원에 머무르지 않았다. 그리하여 유배초기의 짙은 고립감과 외로움, 격정적인 심리상태 등을 여러 작품을 통해 표출하였다. 한편, 잡체시의 형식적인 측면에서는 다양한 시체를 통해 언어문자의 제한된 조건을 능숙하게 활용하는 창작역량을 보여주었다. 따라서 유배초기 이학규의 잡체시 창작은 유배지의 무료한 일상을 달래려는 유희적인 수단, 다양한 시 형식의 실험을 통한 詩作의 능력 함양 등과 같은 창작동기 뿐만 아니라, 격앙된 정서와 진지한 내면의식의 호소, 자신의 존재감을 표출하고자 하는 詩才의 과시 등과 같은 젊은 시절의 작가의식이 중층적으로 집약된 결과물로 이해할 수 있다.
