This study aims at the development of teaching material to solve the problems of repetition and omission of learning content which occur in the process of transitional implementation of 2007? Revised Elementary Social Studies Curriculum and to provide the teachers with instructional material which can be a practical support for teaching. For this, first of all, a survey of the needs of the teachers in the field was performed and as the result, the directions of the development of the bipartite material were set : material of familarity and user-friendliness, material of self-fulfillment, and material of flexibility for re-organization. The first part consists of the purpose of development, the structure and the usage of teaching material for 2011? 6th grade teachers, the features of 2007? Revised Curriculum and 7th Curriculum, the analysis of repetition(and omission) of curricular content, and the annual plan for 6th grade. The second part contains the teaching material for teachers to use according to the annual plan. The developed material for teachers of 2011? 6th graders will be distributed to 16 major offices of education, to the branch offices of them and to the schools and is expected to help 6th grade teachers with the development and implementation of plans of grade and class curriculum and to contribute to smooth settlement of 2007? Revised Social Studies Curriculum and effective class practice.

본 연구는 2011학년도 6학년 교사용 지도자료 개발로서, 2007 개정 초등 사회과 교육과정의 연차적 적용과정에서 발생한 내용의 중복이수와 미이수 문제 해결 및 교사들의 실질적 수업 실천에 도움을 줄 수 있는 교수용 자료 제공의 목적으로 이루어졌다. 이러한 목적하에 개발된 자료는 크게 2부로 구성되었다. 1부에는 2011학년도 6학년 교사용 지도자료 개발 목적 및 지도자료 구성과 활용방법, 2007 개정 교육과정과 7차 교육과정의 특징 정리와 교육과정 내용 중복(미이수) 분석, 6학년 연간지도 계획으로 구성되었으며, 2부에는 1부의 연간계획에 따라 교사가 수업에 활용할 수 있는 자료를 개발하였다. 이렇게 개발된 사회과 교사용 지도 자료는 2011학년도 6학년 교사들의 학년, 학급 교육과정 편성, 운영 계획 수립과 2007 개정 초등 사회과 교육과정의 원활한 현장 적용과 효율적인 수업실천 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 다만 앞으로 현장에서 교사용 지도자료 활용을 위한 행정적인 지침이 보다 구체화되어야 할 것이며, 교사 대상 연수 및 전국단위 학력평가 포함 여부 문제는 교육과학기술부가 조속히 정리해야할 과제로 남아 있다.
