The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of start-up and entrepreneurship education in the Republic of Korea and abroad. The future directions of entrepreneurship education will be presented through the analysis of the needs of the education customer. The results of study, "start up" was included in the mean of "entrepreneurship". This study found that entrepreneurship education in the Republic of Korea was very small. Middle and high school students claimed that entrepreneurship education should be reflected during regular classroom hours. The teacher‘s opinions however, showed that entrepreneurship education should take place during irregular classroom hours and in extracurricular education institutions. Overall, both the students and the teachers wanted the establishment and development of various professional education programs. The expected performance of metropolitan students in entrepreneurship education is higher than that of the local students. The expected performance of both metropolitan and local teachers is very high. As a result of this study, new items have been proposed for future education. For example, a new textbook, e-Learning system, has been dedicated to teacher training and the improvement of the university entrance examination system.

본 연구는 최근 중요한 이슈로 떠오르고 있는 창업 및 기업가 정신 교육에 대한 우리나라의 현황과 해외의 현황을 살펴보고, 교육수요자의 기대성과분석을 통하여 향후 전개되어질 교육방향에 대한 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구결과 기업가 정신은 창업이라는 내용을 포함하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 현재 우리나라의 기업가 정신 교육은 매우 미미한 실정임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 직접적인 교육수요자라고 할 수 있는 중․고등학생과 교사를 대상으로 인지정도와 기대성과분석을 실시한 결과 중․고등학생은 정규교과시간에 그리고 교사는 정규교과외 시간과 학교 밖 기관에 창업교육이 반영되어야 함을 나타내었고, 전체적으로는 전문교육기관의 설립과 다양한 프로그램 개발이 필요함을 나타내었다. 또한 창업교육의 기대성과는 수도권학생이 비수도권 학생에 비해서 더 높은 기대성과를 보였으며, 교사의 경우 수도권과 비수도권에 관계없이 매우 높은 기대성과를 보였다. 제언에서는 새로운 교재의 개발과 e-Learning 시스템의 구축, 전담교원양성과 대입전형제도의 개선 등을 나타내었다.
