Two major questions in homiletics are what to present and how to deliver. How to preach the gospel effective based on right exegesis is what this study pays attention and all preachers are concerned with. For this reason, preachers have to find the effective ways to present gospel so that congregations could well listen. If they, preachers and congregations, have common ground in a way that they read together and think together, or congregations are able to participate in preaching activity, the
effectivity would definitely go high. That is why this article is concentrated on biblio-preaching or preaching the Bible with literature.
Preaching the Bible with literature can be done with reading the Bible, classics, and novels. Moreover, all other possible materials such as newspaper, magazine, movies, art, drama, internet contents, political issues and so on could be used for. Since it is preaching, however, we better be careful to deal with them in terms of proper guideline. What this study proposes is the very practical guideline for preachers today in relation with Youngbong Kim’s recent preaching the Bible with Looking after Mom.

설교학의 두 중요한 질문은 무엇을 전할 것인가와 어떻게 전할 것인가이다. 본 연구가 주목하는 것은 두 번째로 첫 번째 작업인 바른 본문해석을 전제로 어떻게 복음을 효과적으로 전달할 것인가이다. 설교자에게는 바른 복음을 전해야 할 책임뿐 아니라 그 복음을 들리게 할 책임이 있다. 이를 위해 설교자가 최고의 효과적인 방법을 추구하는 것은 당연한 의무이다. 잘 들려지기 위해서는 설교자와 회중의 공감대가 형성되어야 하고 회중이 직접 설교에 참여할 때 가장 탁월한 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구가 독서설교에 주목하는 것은 바로 이 때문이다.
독서설교는 성경, 기독교 고전을 포함한 신앙 서적 및 경건 서적, 소설을 포함한 일반 서적 등 세 방식으로 진행할 수 있다. 사실 책으로 하는 독서뿐 아니라 신문, 잡지, 영화, 소설, 스포츠, 예술, 연극, 연속극, 인터넷, 정치, 경제 등 인간생활의 전반에 걸친 모든 일이 설교의 자료와 대상이 될 수도 있다. 그러나 그런 거룩한 의도를 부주의하게 다룬 잘못된 설교가 주는 폐해 때문에 무턱대고 권장하는 것은 무책임하고 적절한 지침과 제한이 필요하다. 본 연구가 제안하고자 하는 것이 바로 그 지침이다. 본 연구에서는 김영봉의 최신 독서설교『엄마를 부탁해』를 토대로 독서 설교의 실제에 대해 제언하였다.
