This thesis analyzes how the factors associated with women's career interruption affect those women's desire for returning to work in Korean society, according to classify the determinant factors of women's career interruption into three categories: personal, familial and structural.
In order to research, it referred to the datas surveyed targeting 5,006 women who took part in a vocational education training program hosted by the Network of Korean Women Resources Development Centers consisting of 51 organizations, which has the goal of developing human resources and improving applications for career-interrupted women.
The analysis showed the following results.
First, 86.3% of those surveyed had work experience in the past and they mostly served as office workers, skilled professionals, and service workers, and the majority had regular full-time jobs. Their degree of desire for work re-entry is average 5.05 out of 10, it showed they have a normal levels of the desire to back to work.
Second, the result of the analysis based on the above mentioned three factors(personal, familial and structural) showed there is statistically distinct differences in the degree of the desire for work re-entry as following. The differences are the age, the state of marriage, the age of youngest child, the main agent of taking care of their preschool children and the average household income in terms of personal and familial factors, while structural factor has difference on the work experience, the type of work and previous experience of employment, etc.
Third, the result of the analysis from the hypothesis testing by the above-mentioned three factors on the effect to the desire of career-interrupted women showed the biggest factor for women's re-entry is the familial one.
