In the process that Choseonjok in China(Chinese-Korean) experience Korea, Korea may have various images to them. There are some differences among their feeling of Korea as an economically developed country, their impression of Koreans after having experienced discrimination while working in Korea, and the image of Korean people based on their experiences in Korea accumulated in a somewhat legal space after the amendment of laws related to overseas Koreans. Furthermore, as Koreans and Choseonjok have more experiences in each other, they look for co‐existence and co‐prosperity. This study examined the images of Koreans described in novels written by Choseonjok in China from three aspects. Before and just after the establishment of formal diplomatic relation between Korea and China, Korea was a space of imagination and dream to Choseonjok. As they gradually experienced discrimination from Koreans, Korean people’s faults were spotlighted. Then, Choseonjok in China admitted national differences and looked for coexistence and cooperation with Koreans as the same race. As a result, novels by Choseonjok writers in China depict efforts to coexist with Koreans through reconciliation. Choseonjok in China live close to Korea, and their exchange with Korea will increase further in the future. The heterogeneity and discrimination that Choseonjok in China experience in Korea have formed a negative image of Koreans, and in the same way, Koreans have come to have a negative image against Choseonjok in China. Now after over 20 years since the establishment of formal diplomatic relation between Korea and China, Choseonjok in China and Koreans should be integrated with each other as a nation. Accordingly, we may understand positively the messages of reconciliation and coexistence with Koreans appearing in recent novels by Choseonjok writers in China.

중국조선족이 한국을 접하는 과정에서 한국은 다양한 이미지로 다가오게 된다. 경제적으로번영한 한국에 대해 느끼는 마음과 한국에 취업하여 차별을 경험한 후의 한국인에 대한 느낌과 한국의 재외동포에 관한 법률의 개정으로 다소간 합법적인 공간에서 한국 체험이 쌓이면서 조선족이 갖게 되는 한국인에 대한 이미지는 조금씩 다르게 나타난다. 또 한국인과 조선족의 개인적 체험들이 쌓이면서 한국인과 조선족이 공존․공영하는 방향을 모색하게 되기도 한다. 본고에서는 중국조선족 소설에 나타난 한국인에 대한 이미지를 세 측면으로 정리해 보았 다. 한중 수교 이전이나 직후 조선족들에게 한국은 상상의 공간이었고 꿈의 공간이었다. 그러나 점차 한국인들을 접하며 차별을 경험하면서 그들에게는 한국인들의 단점이 크게 부각되어 보였다. 이후 중국조선족들은 국민적 차이를 인정하고, 하나의 민족으로서 한국인들과 중국조선족들이 공존하고 연대하는 방법을 모색하게 된다. 그 결과 중국조선족 작가들의 소설에는 한국인과의 화해를 통해 공존하려는 노력이 형상화된다. 중국조선족은 한국과 가까운 거리에 존재하고 앞으로 교류는 더욱 늘어날 것이다. 중국조선족들이 한국에 와서 겪게 되는 이질감과 차별은 한국인에 대한 부정적인 이미지를 형성하였고, 마찬가지로 한국인들에게도 중국조선족은 부정적인 이미지로 자리하였다. 한중 교류의 역사가 이십 년이 넘는 이제 중국조선족과 한국인은 민족의 개념으로 통합하여야 한다. 따라서 최근 중국조선족 소설에 나타나는 한국인과의 화해와 공존의 이미지는 긍정적으로 이해해볼 수 있다.
