This study is aimed at clarifying the relationship between achievement goal orientation and individualism-collectivism for university girl students majoring in modern dance. The questionnaire used for this study is a test tool whose reliability and properness have already been verified by previous domestic and international studies. Here, some parts of the questionnaire was corrected according to the purpose of the study. Collected data excluding those considered insincere were analyzed using the Window SPSS 15.0 program following the purpose of the study. To analyze the data, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis, Correlation Analysis and Stepwise Multiple Regression were used. Results of analysis of the relationship between achievement goal orientation and individualism-collectivism for university girl students whose majoring in modern dance using such methods are as follows. First, they showed that individualism-collectivism's sub-scale, HC, VI, VC, was a good variable to explain task goal orientation better than ego goal orientation. Second, they showed that individualism-collectivism's sub-scale, VI, VC, HC, was a good variable to explain ego goal orientation better than task goal orientation. These results were discussed relate to the relationship between achievement goal orientation and individualism-collectivism for university girl students majoring in modern dance.

본 연구는 현대무용전공 여자대학생의 개인-집단주의와 성취목표성향 간에 어떤 관계가 있는가를 알아보기 위해 2009년 수도권 소재 대학에서 현대무용을 전공하는 여자대학생을 편의표집(convenience sampling)하였다. 그리고 최종적으로 287명을 상관분석과 단계적 다중회귀분석에 적용하였다. 분석된 결과에 의하면 첫째, 수직-개인주의(VI)와 수평-개인주의(HI)는 모든 과제성향과 자기성향에 유의하게 정적 상관관계를 나타내었고 수평-집단주의(HC)와 수직-집단주의(VC)는 과제성향과 자기성향에 정적 및 부적 상관관계가 반대로 나타났다. 둘째, 과제성향에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 변인은 수평-집단주의였으며, 그 다음으로 수직-개인주의와 수직-집단주의가 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 자기성향에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 변인은 수직-개인주의였으며, 그 다음으로 수직-집단주의와 수평-집단주의가 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 개인-집단주의와 성취목표성향 간의 관계와 관련하여 후속연구를 위해 논의하였다.
