Abstract : The purpose of this study is to find ways to help elementary school students who suffer from maladjustment due to low subjective well-being by investigating the relationship of elementary students' appearance satisfaction and subjective well-being, and verifying the mediating effect in the relationship of appearance satisfaction and subjective well-being. This research performed a survey toward 508 subjects who were in the fifth and sixth grade of elementary school and attended B elementary school, located in Kyonggi-province and Incheon Metropolitan city. Basic analysis was conducted toward collected data by using SPSS WIN 15.0 and AMOS 7.0 statistical program. The reliability analysis of descriptive statistics and measure in regard to the subordinate variables was conducted. Correlation analysis was conducted in order to identify relationships of research variables(appearance satisfaction, rejection sensitivity, and subjective well-being). In addition, mediated model of rejection sensitivity was verified by using the structural equation, and path coefficient of fitness and latent variables in the research model is calculated. The summarization of research result is as follows: In regard to the relationship of appearance satisfaction and subjective well- being, it appeared that rejection sensitivity is partly mediated in the verification of mediating effect of rejection sensitivity. Accordingly, it is revealed that appearance satisfaction not only has a direct effect on subjective well-being but also has an effect on subjective well-being through rejection sensitivity. This research verified mediating effect of rejection sensitivity toward 5th and 6th grade students of elementary school. It has significance in that it is utilized for helping senior elementary school students maintain their subjective well-being through counselling and life guidance for them by elucidating the roles of appearance dissatisfaction and rejection sensitivity in the mechanism of threatening subjective well-being.

요약 : 본 연구는 초등학생의 외모만족도가 주관적 안녕감과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 살펴보고, 외모만족도와 주관적 안녕감 간의 관계에서 거부민감성의 매개효과를 검증해봄으로써 낮은 안녕감으로 부적응을 겪고 있는 초등학생들에게 도움을 줄 수 있는 방법을 모색하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 인천광역시 소재의 초등학교에 재학 중인 5, 6학년 508명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 자료분석을 위해 SPSS WIN 15.0과 AMOS 7.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 기초분석으로써 각 척도의 하위변인에 대한 기술통계치와 척도의 신뢰도 분석을 실시하였고, 연구 변인들(외모만족도, 거부민감성, 주관적 안녕감) 간의 관계를 파악하기 위해 상관분석을 실시하였다. 또한 구조방정식을 이용하여 거부민감성의 매개모형을 검증하였고 연구모형의 적합도와 잠재변인간 경로계수를 산출하였다. 본 연구의 결과 거부민감성은 외모만족도와 주관적 안녕감 간의 관계에서 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 외모만족도는 주관적 안녕감에 직접적으로 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 거부민감성을 통해서도 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 연구결과의 제한점과 후속연구의 제언을 덧붙였다.
