This study aims to verify the fact that woodcraft and furniture manufacturing technical training is one of optimum psychotherapy and rehabilitation programs for the disabled to continue normal social and economic life after relieving psychological anxiety and undergoing therapy. To this end, the study conducted a survey of 20 disabled people who are receiving rehabilitation in the Incheon Hospital as of June 2010 to measure their learning effects of woodcraft and furniture manufacturing technical training. According to the findings, woodcraft and furniture manufacturing technical training provides the disabled with the opportunity to recognize their technical skills officially and have social values and excellent effects in recovery of confidence about rehabilitation.

본 연구에서는 목공예/가구제작 기술교육이 장애인의 심리적 불안감 해소와 치료 후 정상적인 사회생활 및 경제활동을 지속하는데 있어서 최적의 심리치료·재활 프로그램이라는 사실을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 인천산재병원 재활전문센터에서 2010년 6월 현재 재활치료를 받고 있는 장애인 20명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시, 목공예/가구제작 기술교육의 학습효과를 측정하였다. 또한 교육수료 후 보유하게 된 목공예/가구제작 기술을 바탕으로 사회복귀 성공, 정상적인 경제활동을 하고 있는 성공사례를 조사하여 연구의 타당성을 확보하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 장애인의 심리치료·재활 프로그램으로서의 목공예/가구제작 기술교육은 본인의 기술력을 공인받을 수 있는 기회 등이 제공되어 재활에 대한 자신감 회복에 탁월한 효과와 사회적 가치를 지녔음이 증명되었다.
