This study proposed a close relationship between the job-career orientations of dance-major students and the curriculums in the department of dance. Survey on 222 female students at junior and senior was conducted at 4 colleges located in Seoul, using convenience sampling method. For this purpose, the study analyzed the satisfactory degree of the curriculums, the preference among subjects, the orientations of career, and preferences among subjects related to careers. The results are as follows. First, students at dance major revealed low level of satisfaction to current curriculums. They pointed out the absence of practical subjects for real career as one of the major problems of current curriculum. Second, modern dance and ballet class appear to be the most interesting practical training curriculum, and dance performance and choreography classes show up to be the most satisfactory subjects among theoretical curriculums. In conclusion, current curriculum of dance department has a little effect on career selection and many students are in need of practical curriculum related to realistic career pursuit. For this matter, it is necessary for each college to change too standardized curriculum and to organize a characterized and specialized curriculum. A more systemized dance education will make a great contribution to dance-major graduates' advance to labor market and thus the bright future of dance department will be developed.

본 연구는 무용 전공 학생의 진로 성향과 교과과정과의 연계성을 규명하는 것을 목적으로, 서울에 소재한 4년제 대학 중 4개 대학을 편의 표본추출법(conveniencesampling method)을 이용하여 무용 (학)과 3․ 4학년 여학생 222명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 첫째 교과과정에 대한 만족도, 둘째 진로와 연관된 교과 과목에 대한 선호도를 조사하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 측정 도구는 설문지로서, 무용 전공 학생들의 현행 교과과정에 대한 만족도 및 진로 성향과 취업 인식에 관한 것을 알아보기 위해 이윤혜(2003)와 박기선(2003)의 연구를 기초로 하여 본 연구의 목적에 맞게 수정․ 보완하여 사용하였다. 위와 같은 절차를 통해 본 연구의 내용을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 무용 전공 학생들은 진로 선택과 관련하여 현행 교과과정에 대하여 만족도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 즉 사회 진출과 연관된 실무 과목의 부족으로 현행 교과과정이 진로에 별 도움을 주지 못하는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 현행 교과과정 중 만족하는 이론과목은 무용작품 및 안무과정에 관한 과목이었으며 실기과목은 한국 무용, 발레,현대무용과 같은 전공 실기과목에 대하여 가장 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 볼 때, 현행 대학 무용 (학)과 교과과정이 무용 전공 학생들의 진로 선택에 있어 별 영향을 주지 못하고 있어, 진로와 연관된 교과 과목의 신설과 교육과정의 개편이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 각 대학마다 일률적인 교육과정에서 탈피하고 특색 있는 교과목을 개발하여 진로 선택에 도움이 되는 다양하고 특성화된 전문적인 교과과정이 구성되어야 하며, 체계적인 교육과정을 이루어 무용 전공 졸업생들의 적극적인 사회 진출을 도모해야 할 것이다.
