This study is to reinvestigate the aesthetics of korean traditional dance through the sociological approach. The relationship between dance and society was examined under the basis of social phenomenon. Especially, through the relationship between dance and social, cultural image regarding the body which is the expression medium of dance, an idea on the body with the aesthetic characteristics was appeared. The results of this study are as follows: first of all, dance is the social behavior as well as the art of social phenomenon. second, idea on the body is made up of social, cultural elements, and has an effect to dance as well. third, the aesthetic characteristics of Korean traditional dance is deeply related to an idea on the body . Through this result, the considerable opinion is necessary for discussing the aesthetic characteristics of Korean traditional dance. The point of this discussion should be considered, and the many sidedness, in-depth study for sociology of dance should be required.

본 연구는 무용 사회학의 관점에서 한국 춤의 미학을 재조명하고자 시도하였다. 예술 은 사회적 현상이라는 기저 아래, 무용예술과 사회와의 관계를 살펴보았으며 특히, 무용의 표현매체인 신체에 대한 사회, 문화적 상(像)과 무용과의 관계를 고찰함으로서 한국 춤의 미적 특성에 내재된 신체관을 도출하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 무용은 사회적 행동이며, 사회적 현상의 예술이다. 둘째, 신체관은 사회 문화적으로 형성되며 이는 무용에 영향을 미친다. 셋째, 한국 춤의 미적 특성은 신체관과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 이를 통해 한국 춤의 독특한 미적특성이 사회적으로 형성된 가치인식과 깊은 관련이 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 이에 대해서는 앞으로 많은 심도 있고 다각적인 무용 사회학적 연구가 필요하다.
