Hyangryeongrru(향령무 響鈴舞, Dance of the Tinkling of a Bell) is a court dance in which the dancer holds the hyangryeong, small dance prop similar to binding bells, in her wrists. The hyangryeong's clear timbre creates a bright mood. The number of dancers is mostly composed of four or six. It is believed that this dance was created by the Gown Prince Hyomyeong(효명세자, 1809~1830) to celebrate the queen's 40th birthday. Since that time it was performed almost court banquet until the end of the Joseon Dynasty. The main movement in this dance is a motion tinkling bells. This point is similar to Jaenggangmu(쟁강무) danced in north Korea and Yanbian(연변 延邊) of China now. Jaenggangmu is also seen the private records, of the Joseon Dynasty. According to the records, Jaenggangmu is performed at a court and private banquets. But I have never seen a repertoire of Jaenggangmu in the records of court banquets, Euigwe(의궤 儀軌). Now to conclude, It seems that Jaenggangmu has originally performed at a private or official circles banquet as the Seonyurak(선유락 船遊樂), since then became repertoire of Hyangak Jeongjae called Hyangryeongmu.
