This study selected newly appointed secondary school teachers of Special Education as participants and set up an objective to analyze adaptation to teaching jobs through their various experience and awareness of working as new teachers. For this study, face-to-face talks in-depth were given to newly appointed secondary school teachers of Special Education at a Special Education School in Seoul. Also, their teaching presentation videos and collected documents that are related were analysed. According to the study, the study participants have firm philosophy of their teaching jobs as Special Education teachers. The participants have difficulties such as confusion from differences between individual students, dealing with behavioral problems, the limits of their physical strength, and evaluation problems, etc. Their relationship with principles and parents are good enough thanks to their constant effort. Their administrative tasks were more than they can handle and they're not used to Internet based sanction system. The result of this study suggest an orientation that can help newly appointed secondary school teachers of Special Education adapt to their teaching jobs. It also proposes a desirable course for current education.

본 연구는 중등 특수학교 초임교사를 연구 참여자로 선정하여 중등 특수학교에 근무하면서 겪는 다양한 경험과 인식을 통하여 교직적응을 분석하는 목적이 있다. 연구를 위하여 서울특별시 소재의 한곳의 특수학교에 근무하는 교직경력 약 2년의 중등 특수학교 초임교사 4명을 심층 면담, 공개수업 동영상 그리고 문서를 수집한 후, 분석하였다. 연구에 따르면 연구 참여자들은 확고한 신념으로 특수교사가 되려는 뚜렷한 교직관을 가지고 있다. 연구 참여자들의 교육활동은 다양한 개인차에 따른 혼란, 부적응행동의 고뇌와 체력의 한계, 평가에 대해 어려움을 겪고 있다. 연구 참여자들과 학교장 및 학부모와의 인간관계는 꾸준한 노력으로 원만하게 형성하고 있다. 연구 참여자들의 학교행정의 업무는 과중한 업무와 더불어 서툰 전자결재 익히기로 나타났다. 이 연구결과에 기초하여 중등 특수학교 초임교사의 교직적응에 도움을 줄 수 있는 직전교육과 현직교육의 방향을 제언하였다.
